Overview
Set the pay period length to align with how frequently your users are paid. For example, if you pay users every week you might want to set weekly pay periods.
Considerations
- You must have admin or manager (with “can manage timesheets and pay periods” enabled) level access to change pay periods settings.
- Changing the pay period length can change when overtime calculations start.
- Overtime alerts are available if your pay periods are weekly or every two weeks.
Set pay period length
Hover over , then select Attendance Settings.
- Scroll down to the Pay Periods section, then use the Pay Period Length menu to select how long your pay periods run:
Pay Period Length Weekly Description Select this option if your users are paid every week. Pay period hours are calculated every week based on the pay period end date.
Overtime is calculated from the start of the pay period.
Pay Period Length Every two weeks Description Select this option if your users receive payment every two weeks. Pay period hours are calculated every other week based on the pay period end date.
Overtime is calculated from the start of the pay period.
Pay Period Length 1st and 16th of the month Description Select this option if your users receive payment twice a month. Pay period hours are calculated every 15 days based on the pay period end date.
Overtime is calculated from the start of the work week.
Pay Period Length Monthly Description Select this option if your users are paid once a month. Pay period hours are calculated every month based on the pay period end date.
Overtime is calculated from the start of the work week.
Pay Period Length Custom Description Select Custom if you have a pay period that does not align with your regularly generated pay periods. This is useful if you want to change the dates of pay periods or add a new pay period to ensure you pay your users in the necessary increments.
Once you select Custom, edit the end date of the pay period in the Timesheets page.

Once you select Custom, edit the end date of the pay period in the Timesheets page.
- After selecting your pay period length, a message appears notifying you about the change. Click Confirm to confirm the update.
- When you’re finished, click Save in the top-right corner of the screen.
