Enable Log In with Two-Step Verification

Overview

Two-step verification adds a second layer of security to your account by requiring another verification method beyond your initial password.

This article covers enabling two-step verification on your Android device. You can also enable and log in with two-step verification on your computer or iOS device.

Before You Begin

If you choose the authenticator app path, install an Authenticator App on your mobile device. When I Work recommends Authy, LastPass, or Google Authenticator.

Enable Two-Step Verification Using an Authenticator App

  1. Tap  More in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  2. Tap Profile & Settings.
  3. Tap the Two-Step Verification field.
  4. (Optional) If you haven’t already, tap an Authenticator App to download. If you already have the app, tap Next.
  5. Tap Copy Key. Navigate to your authenticator app, create an account and paste the key in the key field. Once this is done tap Next
  6. The authentication app should provide a code. Copy this code and then return to the When I Work app.
  7. Paste the authentication code, then tap Next.
  8. A success message is displayed when two-step verification is enabled. Tap Copy Codes and paste them into an email to send to yourself for backup purposes. After you have safely stored your recovery codes, select Done at the bottom.

Enable Two-Step Verification Using SMS Text Messaging

  1. Tap  More in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  2. Tap Profile & Settings.
  3. Tap the Two-Step Verification field.
  4. Tap SMS (Text Message).
  5. Enter your mobile phone number, then tap Next.
  6. Enter the authentication code that was sent to you via text, then tap Next.
  7. A success message is displayed when two-step verification is enabled. Tap Copy Codes and paste them into an email to send to yourself for backup purposes. After you have safely stored your recovery codes, select Done at the bottom.
