Overview

If your employer allows, you can clock in and out while you’re logged in to the When I Work web app from a work computer.

Things to know before you begin

  • If you don’t see the option to clock in, your employer may have turned off the work computer time clock feature.
  • Your employer can require that you clock in within 5, 15, or 30 minutes of your shift. If you’re too early, you may be unable to clock in.
  • Your employer can also require that you clock in from a specific location. If you’re at the wrong location, you may be unable to clock in.

Clocking in

  1. From your computer, use a supported web browser to sign in to When I Work on the web.
  2. Click Clock In.
    • If you’re an employee, click Clock In at the top of the page.
    • If you’re a supervisor, manager, or account holder, hover your cursor over Attendance, then click Clock In.
  3. If the web browser asks to share your location, grant the request.

  4. (Optional) Add a message for your employer. 
  5. Click Clock In.

Recording your unpaid breaks

You can track your unpaid breaks while you’re clocked in. These breaks are also called lunch breaks. Check with your manager to find out if you should record your breaks in When I Work.

Starting an unpaid break

You must be clocked in to start an unpaid break.

  1. Click Take Lunch.
    • If you’re an employee, click Take Lunch at the top of the page.
    • If you’re a supervisor, manager or account holder, hover your cursor over Attendance, then click Take Lunch.
  2. Click Start Break. If your shift has an unpaid break entered, the length of your scheduled break appears.

Ending an unpaid break

  1. Click End Lunch.
    • If you’re an employee, click End Lunch at the top of the page.
    • If you’re a supervisor, manager, or account holder, hover your cursor over Attendance, then click End Lunch.
  2. Click End Break. The length of your break appears.

Clocking out

  1. From your computer, use a supported web browser to sign in to When I Work on the web.
  2. Click Clock Out.
    • If you’re an employee, click Clock Out at the top of the page.
    • If you’re a supervisor, manager, or account holder, hover your cursor over Attendance, then click Clock Out.
  3. If the web browser asks to share your location, grant the request.

  4. (Optional) Add a message for your employer.
  5. Click Clock Out.
    A message appears to let you know you’ve clocked out successfully.
